Classic, rethought!

Once in a blue moon, Dangerholm leaves the beaten track with a bike body and comes up with an alternative concept. It may not be quite as light but it is certainly no less exciting than his other builds. The Speedster Gravel features interesting and unconventional combinations of parts, coupled with the usual dose of Dangerholm and printed titanium. When you look at the Speedster Gravel, instead of a power meter and lycra, a good dose of adventure resonates.

Bike Presentation

The SCOTT frame is called the Speedster Gravel 30 and is an aluminum frame that comes with an enormous number of bottle cage and accessory mounts. It comes with a carbon fork and a threaded bottom bracket.

For the cockpit, Dangerholm opted for a Syncros stem, which also provides integrated cable routing, and a Surly corner bar, which catches the eye with its imposing shape alone.

While the handlebars are more classic with steel as the material, the rear end is more modern. MCFK products were chosen for the saddle and seatpost, and in addition to an incredible value on the scales, you also get plenty of comfort. Thanks to their defined flex, both products take the sting out of potholes or larger bumps and make riding a lot more comfortable. Everything stays in place thanks to the Dward Design seat clamp.

The brakes are Piccola Carbon. In addition to the weight, the brake hose routing, which runs very close to the handlebars, also speaks in its favor. This allowed Dangerholm to route the hoses straight back under the handlebar tape and, as a bonus, gave the handlebars a clean look. The Piccolas grip into Dächle UL washers from the same company. The Meti bolts hold everything in place with aplomb.

Dangerholm also stays true to the bike concept with the wheels and uses something (visually) more classic instead of the current aero rims: RaceFace ARC25 rims, which are actually at home in the MTB sector. The wheelset was built with Sapim spokes and Hope Pro 5 hubs in our in-house wheel shop at R2BIKE. The wheels are held in the bike by titanium thru axles from Meti.

Dangerholm doesn't do things by halves when it comes to the drivetrain. The CaneCreek eeWings crank is complemented by a DangerDward chainring with 46 teeth, which is produced in cooperation between Dangerholm and the British company Dward Design. Classic, timeless, simply beautiful!

When it comes to the rear derailleur, a converted Force XPLR, Dangerholm reaches deep into its bag of tricks. The rear derailleur cage and the parallelogram are 3D-printed and made of titanium. This futuristic design study was created in collaboration with Faction Bike Studio, TRUMPF and Dangerholm. Anyone already speculating on it - unfortunately not! Unfortunately, this rideable experiment will not be available for purchase in the foreseeable future.

Neither TRUMPF nor Faction Bike Studio are strangers to the bike world - Faction Bike Studio is a Canadian design and engineering company that supports many bike brands in the development of frames and components. They are experts when it comes to materials, production techniques and design and were allowed to let off steam outside of convention for this project. TRUMPF, on the other hand, is a leader in the field of additive metal manufacturing, producing the actual machines for 3D printing metal. The parts were made from titanium on their TruPrint machines. These technical capabilities also made it possible to implement fine details such as the maple leaf pattern - a small Easteregg and reference to Faction Bike Studio.

Have you already discovered the shifters for the Force rear derailleur? If not? That's no shame - they're hidden under the handlebar tape as wireless blips 😉

The Scott has a total weight of 9.06 kg in this configuration, with 700 g falling on the handlebars alone.
