MAXXIS REKON 29 x 2.40 WT 3C MaxxTerra TR EXO+ tires

The Maxxis Rekon is a very voluminous tire that you can use for daily touring, eager shredding in the forest and all-mountain riding, but can also cope with detours into rougher terrain. The TR version with EXO sidewall protection is designed for riding without a tube with sealant, but like all TR tires can also be ridden with a tube. We recommend the Rekon primarily on the rear wheel, which is best combined with a 2.60 Forekaster at the front, but can also be used with coarser treads.

Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and have too angular a shape on wide rims, resulting in less than optimal performance.
WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 30 and 40 mm.

Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: you can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealing milk than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of Maxxis TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions from the first inflation and with little liquid.

Note: Maxxis strongly advises against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months, depending on the amount used. Maxxis recommends the use of Tire Plasma tire sealant.

3C MaxxTerra
The right 3C compound for Enduro and Freeride tires. This compound is characterized by smooth uphill performance and excellent downhill grip as well as a long service life.

EXO+ Protection
The improved EXO+ carcass is based on a robust 60TPI carcass, which is covered with abrasion-resistant rubber. In addition, the tire sidewalls have a reinforced and rubberized EXO puncture protection layer, while a short butyl insert is used above the tire bead. Tires with EXO+ protection are designed for aggressive trail riding and enduro racing and are ideal for the higher torque and weight associated with E-MTBs.
