MAXXIS tire REKON Race 29 x 2.40 WT MaxxSpeed TR EXO
As its name suggests, the Rekon Race is an aggressive tire for bike racing or anyone who wants to go fast. In contrast to the normal Rekon, the center lugs are flatter. The more pronounced L-shaped side lugs bite into the terrain and therefore provide the best grip in loose bends and sloping terrain. With this confidence, you can take risks without having to explore the trail conditions beforehand. The Rekon Race is recommended as a rear tire or front and rear for dry short-distance races.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other tubeless ready tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions right from the first inflation and with little liquid. Normal MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant, just like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very tight. However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the casing and can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months, depending on the amount used.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and have too angular a shape on wide rims, resulting in less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 30 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 25 and 30 mm.
MaxxSpeed
The brand new MaxxSpeed compound is undoubtedly one of the most advanced compounds for XC racing. This high-performance silica compound significantly reduces rolling resistance while improving grip on wet surfaces. Compared to the 3C MaxxSpeed, the laboratory test shows a remarkable reduction in rolling resistance of around 25 % (with unchanged tread, tire structure and air pressure). During a 90-minute race, this could theoretically mean a time saving of up to one minute.
EXO Protection
This extremely cut- and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very densely woven, lightweight and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tires remains convincingly good.
