Built to encourage women
not to settle for a "good enough" bike:
build your true dream bike!
Even in his childhood, Dangerholm was not only passionate about cycling, but also about bikes. He tinkered and tuned - from 16-inch BMXs to the lightest mountain bikes in the world. For him, it was always a great feeling to walk into the garage and grab his dream bike for the next tour. For many people, cycling is the main focus, but the technology plays a subordinate role: the bike simply has to work. But if you are enthusiastic about cycling, it is only a small step and you also find the technology fascinating. If someone can't decide between two bikes, Dangerholm's recommendation is always: follow your heart, take the one you like best. If someone thought a bike looked cooler or nicer, that's worth more in the end than, for example, a slightly fancier rear derailleur. But of course it's even better when technology and looks are combined in a way that pleases the customer. Be it in the search for the perfect standard bike, upgrading one or even building the very personal dream bike.
Over time, Dangerholm noticed that men are more likely to strive for the perfect personal dream bike than women. There are many passionate and fast female riders, but compared to men, a surprising number seem to settle for a bike that is "good enough" - but not the bike they dream of.
When Dangerholm's girlfriend Pernilla needed a new gravel bike, he encouraged her not to settle for a standard production bike but to go the extra mile to create her personal dream bike. How could it be otherwise? Miss Dangerholm was enthusiastic about the task. After many hours of sanding paint, reading up on individual components and building the bike from scratch, she proudly presents her individual SCOTT Contessa Addict Gravel. A bike that will hopefully inspire more riders, especially women, to get the bike they really want.
Bike Build
The basis is a SCOTT Contessa Addict Gravel frameset including the matching Syncros components. Both the frame and the fork are made of HMX carbon and allow for a lightweight construction - only the HMX SL set is even lighter. Frame and fork offer a tyre clearance of up to 45mm. A Syncros Creston iC SL X is fitted, a one-piece carbon gravellar handlebar that integrates the brake hoses for a tidy look. The built-in Garmin mount from Syncros also offers a GoPro mount and is manufactured in the USA by K-Edge. The seatpost is a Syncros Duncan SL Aero and the saddle is a Syncros Celista R 1.0 with a women's specific shape.
The crank used is an EASTON EC90 SL. The EC90 was also painted in a high-gloss finish to match the frame. It rotates in a CeramicSpeed bottom bracket, which guarantees low friction and a long service life. Miss Dangerholm also uses a 42 chainring from Garbaruk. The pedals are some very special gems. The special edition from r2-bike.com, limited to 13 pieces, are XTR pedals, completed with CeramicSpeed coated bearings and titanium axles from Meti. The rear derailleur is also bursting with upgrades and special features. The X01 AXS received a tuning with Hopp Carbon Parts and a Ceramicspeed OSPW cage, which was painted to match the rest of the bike. Details such as the rear derailleur rollers also received attention - these have been given a white Cerakote coating. Especially in combination with the black SRAM X01 chain, the rollers look good. The cassette is a General Lee 9-50Z from Leonardi Racing.
Moving on to the braking system: SRAM Rival AXS levers do the work here, paired with the beautiful Trickstuff C22 brake calipers. The C22 are available for both Shimano and SRAM levers and stand out for their low weight and decent performance. The brake discs also come from Trickstuff. The Dächle ULs are equipped with "The Fixer" adapters from Bike Ahead Composites so that they can be fitted to the Centerlock hubs. The adapters are a Dangerholm Tip, because they are not only the lightest but also the most beautiful ;-)
For the wheels, Dangerholm draws on his experience from the MTB sector with Pi-Rope wheels. These offer different riding characteristics than normal wheels and absorb vibrations better than normal wheels. Therefore, they seem to be perfectly suited for use on gravel. For the rims, a prototype of the Syncros Capital 1.0 X40 was used. These are specially designed for the Pi Rope spokes and have an adapted bore for the Pi Rope spokes, as they have a larger diameter than normal standard nipples. To match the build, Pi Rope sent various pink spoke patterns and so Miss Dangerholm was able to choose the perfect colour. The wheels are held by Meti titanium thru axles.
The Ultradynamico Rosé Race with 42mm width was chosen as the tyre for the chic Contessa. Not only their name qualifies them, but also because they offer plenty of grip and still roll fast. Depending on the intended use, the Ultradynamico are either ridden with Pirelli Smarttubes or converted to tubeless with Syncros Eco Sealant.
