SRAM Eagle Transmission 1987 Edition MTB groupset | 55 mm chainline 174 mm Q-factor | 170 mm | silver
1987 - the birth of a legend.
To celebrate 38 years of innovation, the guys from Chicago have come up with something very special. The limited 1987 collection combines selected highlights of the Transmission Ecosystem that SRAM is particularly proud of - in an exclusive silver finish. To ensure that this drivetrain remains just as exclusive as its history, the collection is limited to 1987 units worldwide.
At the center of your new drivetrain is a crank inspired by the X0 series.
Made from high-quality aluminum, this crankset impresses with its robust design and modern look. With a length of 170 mm, it offers the ideal balance of efficiency and control and fits perfectly with the geometries of modern mountain bikes. And so that you can always get the best out of yourself, it comes with a power meter. Thanks to the two chainrings supplied, you don't have to compromise on the gear ratio either.
The power to the cassette is transmitted by a no less exclusive chain. Hollow pins, a hard chrome coating and punched-out plates save weight and both the "1987" and the serial number make this chain a real rarity.
Once on the rear wheel, your chain is greeted by a completely silver cassette. Technically, it is based on the already lightweight XX SL cassette - but as we all know, good things can always be improved. For this special occasion, it has shed around 25 grams without compromising on durability or shifting performance.
Last but not least, the chain also has to be moved back and forth on the cassette. This is where a rear derailleur that matches the rest is used. The aluminium inline cage is combined here with the lightest AXS full-mount base body in silver.
To perfectly round off the color concept, the package also includes two Pod Ultimate controllers with color-coordinated silver Infinity clamps.
Strictly limited to only 1987 groups worldwide: Each component of the 1987 Edition is unique and bears an individual serial number from 0001 to 1987 lasered onto each component. A perfect "must have" for collectors and fans of the SRAM brand.
Eagle Transmission is a system for your mountain bike drivetrain that sets new standards in terms of function and reliability.
All components are built around the constant point of every bike - the center of the wheel. All unnecessary parts have been eliminated in order to perform the elementary functions to perfection.
The T-Type system is precisely matched for perfect function and is not compatible with existing, older Eagle drivetrains. The groupset is not approved for use on e-bikes!
Please note: The serial numbers are assigned randomly. Unfortunately, we cannot consider individual requests.
Crank (693g)
An aluminum crank inspired by the X0 in silver. The mounted power meter measures with an accuracy of +/- 1.5%. From a technical point of view, the production of the crank is also special. The left crank arm and the shaft are not joined together from two individual parts as usual, but are manufactured in one piece.
Rear derailleur (457g incl. battery)
The 1987 rear derailleur consists of the lightest full-mount base body, paired with a silver aluminum inline cage. Crisp gear changes meet reliable function and an extravagant design - perfect for anyone who values performance and looks.
Cassette (316g)
Technically, it is based on the already very light XX SL cassette - for this special occasion, it has been lightened by around 25 grams without compromising on durability or shifting performance.
Chain (266g)
The flattop chain has been specially developed for the new Eagle Transmission drivetrains and has a unique, flat top. This shape not only maximizes shifting performance and stability, but is also a visual highlight on any bike. Hollow pins and recessed plates save weight and the hard chrome coating prevents corrosion.
2x pod controller (95g)
The AXS Pod Ultimate features a two-button "click and fire" design, turning every rider command into a much more personalized experience for all your AXS components.
Battery (25g)
Two batteries are included to power your rear derailleur. So that you are always supplied with sufficient energy, even on long tours.
Charger
With the 4-port charger, it is possible to charge up to four AXS batteries in just one hour. However, this short charging time requires a powerful USB-C power supply. (not included in the scope of delivery)
Disassembly tool
A special tool for removing the chainrings of SRAM power meters equipped with a thread mount. The tool is essential to remove the chainrings properly without damaging the measuring system or chainring.
NOTE: A frame with UDH interface is absolutely necessary to mount the rear derailleur! The rear derailleur is NOT compatible with existing Eagle drivetrains!
