CORE 2 Core Body Temperature Sensor | Thermal Sensor
Train Hot, Race Cool - with the CORE 2 Thermal Sensor you not only get the most innovative body temperature sensor on the market, it also gives you the opportunity to do effective heat training with the accompanying CORE app. The minimalist sensor is attached to the chest strap of your heart rate monitor using the clip provided and is the first sensor on the market that can track your core and skin temperature in real time non-invasively. You can track and record the measured values via a corresponding data field on your compatible bike computer or via the CORE app. In combination with the CORE 2 sensor, the CORE app also allows you to control heat training sessions to avoid the risk of harmful overload and to achieve the right level of heat stress (heat training). You can also track your heat adaptation after several sessions in the app.
Heat training
This training method is one of the game changers in professional endurance sports and numerous studies have proven the positive effects of heat training on performance. A heat session lasts around one hour and the aim is to expose the body to a controlled heat stimulus. The most common methods are sessions on the Smarttrainer without a fan with "winter clothing" or the CORE Heatsuit specially made for this purpose. The pedalled power should be as low as possible and only high enough to achieve the desired heat stimulus. A large part of the adaptations can be achieved after just 2 weeks with several heat training sessions. Your core body temperature will rise less after a heat training block under hot conditions and generally under high load. This also leads to a lower heart rate under stress. The loss of salt through sweat is also reduced by heat training. These effects are achieved by optimizing thermoregulation. The body learns to sweat faster and more effectively through the heat stimuli.
As a high increase in core body temperature can also be achieved under cool conditions during intensive sporting activities, the positive effects of heat training also come into play in neutral and cool conditions. In addition, heat training also increases blood plasma volume, which increases VO2max and therefore endurance performance in general. Some studies have even demonstrated an increase in haemoglobin mass using special long-term training protocols, which is comparable to the effect of altitude training.
WARNINGS:
-Excessive exposure to high temperatures can be dangerous to your health. Please read the article on heat safety on the manufacturer's website.
-To reduce the risk of overheating and dehydration, drink plenty of water or isotonic drinks before, during and after heat sessions. If you experience dizziness, vomiting, muscle cramps, nausea and/or light-headedness, stop the training session immediately and seek medical help without delay.
