Ivory-coloured design concept
Let's go with a new design study from Dangerholm! This build is dedicated to SCOTT's Genius platform and focusses on a sleek and clean look. The potent suspension comes with a hidden or integrated shock as standard - in combination with other components such as SRAM's AXS or new cable guides for brake lines, it is an excellent basis for this project.
To underline the minimalist concept of the project, Dangerholm kept a low profile in terms of colour and logos and chose "ivory" from the RAL colour scale, which is protected by a semi-matt clear coat. The highlights are the silver and polished components, which visually emphasise the contrast with the wheels and drivetrain. However, Dangerholm is not averse to a later test to see how the bike looks with completely black parts.
Bike Presentation
With the Genius ST, Dangerholm chose the heavier and more potent trail bike version with 150mm damping and an extremely good Fox FLOAT X NUDE shock including Piggy Back, which is complemented by a 160mm Intend Hero at the front. The result is an extremely fast and confidence-inspiring chassis. To ensure that the cockpit of the bike looks as tidy as possible, but that the 3-position function of the shock can still be controlled, Dangerholm has made its own remote control and integrated it into the frame. This originally comes from a 10-speed gearbox. The ratcheting is very direct and the transmission ratio is similar to the lever for the suspension setting, so that Dangerholm can always switch to the next damper mode with 3 "gear jumps". On the Intend Hero, Dangerholm was impressed by the good and, above all, nicely concealed brake hose routing. Similar to a gravel or road bike, the hose is routed through the steerer tube and fork crown. It then runs along the back of the fork leg. During compression, the hose bends to the side and to the rear, so there is no risk of it getting jammed in the wheel.
The cockpit is based on a Syncros Hixon iC Rise carbon handlebar. This has been heavily modified to allow internal cable routing. To compensate for the new holes for the cable routing, it was reinforced accordingly. All in all, however, it is a prototype that should not be copied! The cables enter the frame via a modified Synchros headset with CeramicSpeed SLT bearings. The Twister WE03 from Zirbel for the rear derailleur and seat post are almost invisible and look like lock-on grips at first glance. The little ones offer a great shifting feel, run on ball bearings and small magnets generate the "click" resistance. The necessary cables are routed under the grip through the handlebars into the frame. There they are connected to a BlipBox, which is located near the service cap on the down tube and is therefore easily accessible. The well-known and proven Trickstuff Piccola HD and Dächle HD brakes are used. The mounting bolts for the roofs are a wonderful innovation. These come from Meti and - like the thru axles - are made of titanium. However, a socket is required for installation.
We sit on a Syncros Tofino SL, which is not only light, but also offers an incredible amount of comfort. The seatpost is a 170 mm RockShox Reverb AXS, which is held in place by an Intend Corona clamp.
For the gears, Dangerholm opted for the new X0 Transmission. The X0 carbon crank was painted in a matt black colour. If you look closely, you can already see the prototype for Dangerholm's new chainrings. These were manufactured by RadoxX and have the illustrious name "Bergakungen" - "the mountain king". Of course, all of this revolves around a CeramicSpeed bottom bracket. The X0 Transmission rear derailleur was given a polished B-Knuckle. The parallelogram and the skid plate are from Hopp Carbon Parts and match the carbon cage of the CeramicSpeed OSPW X perfectly.
Let's take a look at the wheels, of course. Duke Racing Wheels is not only known for its outstanding rims, but also for its exciting hubs. The BadBoy hubs with J-flange have a titanium freehub body. These are actually only available in black, but have been polished for this design. Sapim's CX-Ray spokes hold the Duke Fury Star 6ters rims in position. Although these are not carbon rims, they deliver a great ride quality on downhills and are of course also very stable. The 6ters have a special rim profile at both the front and rear. Finally, Maxxis' Assegai with EXO+ and MaxxGrip are fitted at the front. At the rear, the MaxxTerra tyres do their job with aplomb. At 1200g each, it's a comfortable ride uphill, but the fun factor increases many times over on the descents.
All in all, this beautiful overall concept weighs in at 13.60kg and you actually just want to sit on it for a moment and test it yourself...
