Description
SILCA Cleats Titanium | Shimano SPD
There are usually only two options when it comes to cleats for MTB pedals. They are either made of a slightly softer steel or brass. This measure is intended to ensure that the pedal plates wear out, but not the mechanism of your pedal. In addition to being heavy, these plates also have to be changed quite often.
At this point, Silca is breaking new ground and making these cleats from lightweight 6Al/4V titanium. This effectively reduces the rotating mass on your foot by up to 15g per shoe. The material is somewhat harder than the materials otherwise used, but significantly tougher and more abrasion-resistant. The expected service life is about 3-4 times as long.
