SHIMANO GRX front derailleur Di2 FD-RX815
The Gravel bikes are becoming increasingly popular among cyclists. The advantages are apparent. They have a more comfortable geometry than racing bikes, are also excellent off the paved roads and are suitable for a longer journey. However, the conventional racing bike components reach their limits with these wheels. Therefore, Shimano has developed its own switching groups especially for this genus.
The GRX Di2 FD-RX815 derailleur has been designed to match the specific characteristics of Gravel bikes. These usually drive with wider tires than racing bikes. Thus, there was a danger that the inner chain guide could grind on it or accumulates dirt due to the small distance there. To get around this and create more space in the frame, the chain line moved 2.5 mm outwards and is now 46 mm. This is also the GRX derailleur has been tuned. He also manages to bridge a chainring capacity of 17 teeth and thus to expand the range of translations.
Especially with the derailleur, the benefits of electronic circuits come into play. The gear change succeeds much faster and more precisely and without much effort. This increases safety and brings you advantages in hectic racing situations. Typical problems of mechanical switching groups, such as an adjustment of the derailleur, are no longer existent thanks to the electronics. The auto-trim function saves valuable time, since a readjustment of the derailleur, depending on the gear ratio, is carried out automatically and makes a cage dragging chain virtually impossible.
