With the GRX, Shimano launched the first gravel-specific groupset on the market. Since then, the range of applications and the range of gravel bikes has expanded significantly. Shimano has responded to this development by expanding the range of the GRX groupset. With now 12 sprockets on the rear wheel and the option to choose between a 1x and 2x setup, you can adapt your drivetrain even better to your needs.
Like all Shimano Hollowtech II cranksets, the GRX crankset is characterized by a balanced ratio between stiffness, stability and weight. The FC-RX820 crankset comes with a typical gravel gradation: with the large 48-tooth ring, you can pick up speed on flat terrain, but with the small 31-tooth ring, you can also climb longer ascents with ease. The chainline has been shifted outwards to make room in the frame for wider tires. Nevertheless, the Q-factor has remained pleasantly narrow at 151 mm. The typically excellent Shimano workmanship and aerodynamically shaped elements on the outer chainring make the crankset a long-lasting and reliable companion on your tours.
