In conjunction with SIL-TEC, Shimano's new surface coating, ultra-low friction is generated. When compared with simple coatings, SIL-TEC is a very special coating process. System performance is improved thanks to the use of embedded fluorine particles. The coating also reduces wear, driving noise and sliding friction, is dirt-repellent and abrasion-resistant, which significantly increases the durability of the components treated with SIL-Tec.
