MAXXIS Dissector 27.5 | 650B x 2.40 WT 3C MaxxGrip TR Downhill tires
Troy Brosnan wanted to create a unicorn of a tire. A tire that rolls insanely fast, cuts through corners with precision and decelerates well when needed. The profile of the Rekon, Minion DHF and HighRoller II was used as the basis for this and designed by MAXXIS in close collaboration with Troy during the 2018 World Cup season. The Dowhnhill version of the DISSECTOR is ideal as a rear tire, whether for racing or in the bike park.
The trail version also makes sense on the front wheel if you want an easy-rolling and grippy front tire.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and have too angular a shape on wide rims, resulting in less than optimal performance.
WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 30 and 40 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealing milk than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions right from the first inflation and with little liquid.
Like tires from other manufacturers, "normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant, as the carcass fabric is very tight.
However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the casing and can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months, depending on the amount used.
Dual Ply Casing
DH like downhill. Maxxis downhill tires come with a double casing for extra robustness, which you urgently need for downhill use. Two layers of fabric are combined and wrapped around the bead cores. The finished carcass then has four plies on the sidewalls and even 6 plies under the tread. This is how MAXXIS downhill tires are made.
3C MaxxGrip
The well-known 3C downhill compound, which many of the best downhillers have trusted for years, is now called 3C MaxxGrip. 3C MaxxGrip offers the ultimate grip and the best damping properties for unparalleled traction on downhills.
