Changed, improved and better!

It's not just the name that's new, improvements, especially on the inside, make up the most significant differences and innovations. The aim of improving performance and simplifying the application has probably been achieved.
At the beginning, however, you first have to find your way around and decide which brake you need.
The GR4, TR4 and the X2 are the new EVO models, and the shock of new name abbreviations quickly subsides - so don't panic. In the toughest terrain you can find yourself in, downhill and freeride or in the bike park, in short: gravity, you need the EVO GR4.
For the majority of the MTB family, you are best served with the trail version, the EVO TR4 offers you everything you need. To put it into perspective: Braking performance is about 1 percent below the level of Hope's previous top model, the Tech 4 V4.
The third EVO model in the group is the X2, where the number is again a reference to the number of pistons. From the combination of letter and number, it can already be assumed that the cross-country (XC) sector is covered by this brake.

The most noticeable change is the lever, which YOU will constantly feel on your finger and expect meaningful feedback. A balanced ratio of feel. An optimum braking force. Right through to adjustability that takes your individual anatomical requirements into account. You can use the two screws on the lever to adjust the lever width and pressure point to suit you.
With the standard lever, you get a triangular system that is suspended in the center of gravity. Two further levers are optionally available, which offer you a specification in the direction of control or braking power.
The force is transmitted from the lever to the brake master via a piston. The cam, which takes over the control from the lever to the piston, has been designed in such a way that the free travel has been reduced. This results in a crisp pressure point. The piston guide (movement) has been fundamentally adopted from the Tech 4, a second guide bush optimizes this system and additionally stabilizes the piston.
A new option for bleeding the brake makes servicing much more convenient. The reservoir has been fitted with a small screw that can be used to bleed the system. If you prefer the old method or feel more comfortable with it in your routine, you still have the option of removing the cover.
The brake calliper is made from one piece. This makes it lighter, but above all more rigid. The hybrid pistons achieve excellent heat dissipation and the larger pistons generate an approx. six percent increase in braking power compared to the Tech 4.
