GARMIN PAY
The Edge 1050 is the first bike computer with Garmin Pay function. Simply make contactless payments and enjoy the freedom of riding without cash.
CYCLING CAPABILITY
Garmin's cycling ability is a smart analysis tool that shows you how to assess your strength in different areas (endurance-oriented, high performance, anaerobic). This gives you data-based information on where you should train and how you can better achieve your strategic goals.
STAMINA RESIDUAL ENERGY
Stamina tracks your performance during cycling training and shows you the energy available to you during your physical activity. This allows you to optimize your energy consumption during the activity and avoid premature exhaustion.
POWER GUIDE
Power Guide helps you to find the optimal power input for your route and its elevation profile in order to create a performance strategy for your route. To support you even better, the Power Guide takes your remaining energy and the wind conditions into account.
GARMIN COACH
Prepare for your next race, train for a milestone or simply improve your fitness with adaptive Coach or pre-built training plans. Garmin Coach offers customized training plans that adapt to your progress and goals in real time.
RECOVERY TIME
After each workout, the recovery time tells you when you are ready for your next activity. It takes into account the intensity and duration of your last sessions as well as factors such as stress, sleep and daily activities. This gives you a personalized recommendation as to whether you should still recover or whether you are already fully resilient again.
TRAINING PLANNING
Simple training plan synchronization with Garmin Connect, TrainingPeaks or TrainerRoad, including prompts to catch up on missed workouts. Alternatively, you receive individual training suggestions directly on the Edge every day. These suggestions are based on a combination of several performance and load data that your device continuously records and evaluates.
INTEGRATION OF ELECTRONIC GROUPSETS
Until now, electronic shifting groupsets from SRAM could only transmit basic data such as battery status, selected gear or the current gear ratio to the Edge. The introduction of the new SRAM RED AXS (E1) now offers additional convenience: data pages and settings of the Edge can be operated directly via the shift levers. SRAM is thus following suit with a functionality that has already been established with SHIMANO Di2 groupsets for several years.
MTB DYNAMICS
MTB Dynamics offers detailed analyses for mountain bikers, including jump metrics to record the number of jumps, distance and airtime, Grit to assess the difficulty of the route based on terrain and GPS data and Flow to analyze riding fluidity based on speed and line choice.
TRAILFORKS INTEGRATION
With the integration of Trailforks, a popular platform for MTB trails worldwide, Garmin offers you a pre-installed mountain bike map with all the important information on trails that can be ridden, including difficulty levels, elevation profiles and entry points. You can search for and load Trailforks trails directly via the menu interface of your Garmin device.
FORKSIGHT
As soon as you stop at the end of a trail or at a fork in the road, your device automatically displays a map with upcoming junctions. This gives you quick orientation within the trail network without having to zoom or search manually. ForkSight also provides you with detailed information on the distance to the next trail as well as the total length, elevation gain and loss and the difficulty of each section.
5 HERTZ GPS RECORDING
The 5 Hz GPS recording captures your track in the enduro and downhill MTB profile with five data points per second. This results in a particularly precise and detailed track recording that captures even the smallest deviations. At the same time, the high data rate enables even more precise measurement of split times and thus ensures an analysis that also meets the requirements of ambitious riders.
ENDURO & DOWNHILL PROFILES
The Enduro MTB and Downhill MTB activity profiles provide all the data you need for your ride. In the Enduro profile, you can see your altitude and depth meters for the run and the entire activity. The downhill profile saves a lap as soon as you have finished your descent and get on the lift or a shuttle.
SPLIT TIMES
Set start and time measurement points along a trail and compare your performance based on the split times between the measurement points. This allows you to draw conclusions about the fastest line and improve from run to run.
Garmin is one of the world market leaders in the field of mobile navigation and satellite communication. Founded in 1989 with five employees in the United States, the company now has over 9,000 employees worldwide and has established itself through the development of innovative products in the field of navigation and communication. To date, over 43 million Garmin devices have been sold, underlining the trust placed in the brand. The name "Garmin" is made up of the first names of the two founders, Gary Burrell and Dr. Min Kao, and reflects the close partnership and innovative spirit that has characterized the company from the very beginning.
A milestone was the launch of the GPS 100 in 1991, a navigation system for boaters and pilots. It was the first of its kind and marked the beginning of Garmin's focus on GPS technology.
In 2005, Garmin launched the Edge 205, the first GPS bike computer specifically for cyclists. This device was the first to combine GPS technology with training functions and was aimed particularly at ambitious cyclists. It enabled the precise recording of training rides including informative metrics such as distance, speed and altitude profile. The Edge 205 paved the way for today's generation of high-performance bike computers, which not only navigate you reliably wherever you want to go, but also support you in achieving your next training goal with comprehensive performance analyses.
Garmin works constantly and with great commitment to further develop each bike computer through regular software updates and to equip it with new functions. These updates not only fix bugs, but also bring innovative features and contribute to an ever better user experience. It is therefore advisable to update your new acquisition with the latest software immediately after unpacking it. This will ensure that all the functions and innovations described are available to you right from the start.
