FULCRUM wheelset 28" Speed 57 Carbon Center Lock
The Fulcrum Speed 57 wheels are the result of uncompromising development. They offer taller and wider rims that are also lighter and more aerodynamic. The hubs specially developed for the Speed 57 with silky-smooth running USB ceramic bearings round off the package. Thanks to the rims widened to 23 millimetres, the Speed 57 wheels, in combination with 28 millimetre wide tires, deliver a level of performance without compromise. In addition to the excellent aerodynamic properties, the wheel and tire system ensures minimal rolling resistance and noticeably more comfort.
The resins and carbon fibers are manufactured according to Fulcrum-specific specifications. For the Speed 57, an innovative composite mixture of unidirectional FF100 high-modulus fibers was used for the first time. Extensive tests have led to the optimum combination of fibers. Precise lamination and exact resin control result in a rim that offers a balanced level of damping, meets the highest professional demands and guarantees an outstanding riding experience.
2:1 Two-to-One™ spoking pattern
This type of spoking greatly increases the rigidity of the wheel. Particularly when pedalling hard, this can lead to severe twisting at the rear, which costs you valuable energy. For this reason, double the number of spokes is used on the freehub side to better absorb and distribute the forces.
Undrilled rim bed - undrilled rim bed
By not drilling holes for the spoke nipples in the rim bed, the material retains its inner structure and can therefore be subjected to higher loads. This allows higher spoke tensions, which makes the wheel stiffer overall and allows you to accelerate faster.
Another advantage is better tubeless compatibility. Because the air cannot escape inwards through the closed base, the use of rim tape is unnecessary.
MoMag™ - magnetic nipple installation system
With the patented MoMag™ system, threading the spoke nipples is easy despite the closed rim base. They are inserted into the valve opening and guided into place using a magnet. This makes spoking and centering possible as usual.
