SHIMANO 105 Di2 shifting | Brake lever ST-R7170 2x 12-speed + disc brake BR-R7170 Flat Mount | individually
The wait is finally over. Shimano's racing bike group finally comes for the ambitious hobby cyclist with contemporary Di2 technology and 12-speed speed drive. And all of this at an incredibly affordable price-performance ratio. Nevertheless, no compromises were made in terms of durability and functionality and the Japanese's many years of experience can be seen in every detail.
Technically, the new 105 group is similar to its big sisters Dura-Ace and Ultegra. The switching commands are transmitted wirelessly to the front and rear derailleurs. The latter are connected to a central battery, which can be installed, for example, well hidden in the seat post. The 12-speed speed drive was also adopted and enables a larger gear ratio. This makes long hill climbs very pleasant, even for less trained drivers.
The dual control shift/brake levers mean you have your bike under control at all times. The raised horns offer different grip options so that hands and arms can change their position regularly and avoid symptoms of fatigue. Switching is done at the push of a button. It's quick and energy-saving. The pressure point is so precise that unwanted switching operations are practically impossible. With the help of the Shimano E-Tube app, this wireless system is also fully customizable. Among other things, the switching speed can be adjusted, a fully or semi-synchronous switching mode can be selected and the program buttons on the lever can be assigned certain functions. The energy consumption is also very low. According to Shimano, the two CR1632 button cells should supply the electronics with power for over 3 years. They can also be quickly replaced. The lack of cabling not only makes assembly easier, but also gives you a neatly tidy cockpit.
The ergonomics of the brake lever have also been significantly improved. The grip recess is deeper and the rounded handles lie securely under your fingers even on long descents. In addition, the grip width can be individually adjusted, meaning that even drivers with smaller hands can stop in time.
The completely newly designed brake caliper impresses with unprecedented braking power. Thanks to the special design, brake judder and annoying squeaks are a thing of the past. The standard L05A-RF resin brake pads with cooling fins ensure sufficient stability at all times, even under high stress. In addition, the distance between the brake pads has been increased by approx. 10%, making adjustment easier and preventing grinding noises. Even maintenance work, such as bleeding, does not pose any major problems for a biker with a moderate amount of mechanical skills.
