Three decades of experience in the development and production of hubs have left their marks, albeit "very light ones".
Over the years, the head of development at NONPLUS COMPONENTS, Christian Jenny, was able to accumulate immense specialist and practical knowledge, which in 2016, after finding an investor, led to the production of the first own prototypes.
In order to be able to guarantee the precise production of the hubs, the company Frank Präzisionsteile GmbH from Murr in Baden-Württemberg, which is also the investor, took over the production. A little later, in 2018, NON + was registered as a trademark. Since then, the wheels at one of the most innovative think tanks for bike components in Germany have not stood still. New concepts are constantly being developed and patents registered in order to be able to set new standards in the future.
The NONPLUS rear hub is a masterpiece of technology and due to its weight in connection with the approval for almost every application in cycling, it is unique. The black anodized oversized hub body forms the heart of the hub, around which everything revolves. Two large bearings support the hub body on a 17 mm axle , two further bearings carry the freewheel and the microgap end caps keep dirt and water away from the inside of the hub. A brake disc mount, which extends directly to the spoke flange, ensures optimal transmission of the braking forces. The patented freewheel mechanism is hidden inside on the opposite side. The unique bevel gearing has a contact surface that is approx. 400% larger than conventional spur gear gearing and thus enables maximum power transmission with minimal wear. The special, very elaborately manufactured tooth back, together with the hard anodized surface, ensures low abrasion and thus also increases the service life. The 45-fold toothing results in a maximum free travel of 8 °. This means that you have direct propulsion in difficult passages, for example, when you need it and you do not lose valuable time on the finish sprint.
GEN2
Thanks to high-precision manufacturing and perfect quality control, the hubs of the second generation get by without the previously used adjuster for the bearing play. This means that you always have a perfectly adjusted hub with a smooth, easy run.
Precision and quality
The elimination of disruptive factors such as flex, vacuum effect, spoke tears and tolerances, through the highest precision in material selection, manufacturing process and quality assurance. All of this enables a warranty period of 4 years.
NONPLUS bevel gearing
The unique freewheel mechanism of the NONPLUS hubs has approx. 400% more contact surface than conventional systems and enables maximum power transmission with minimal wear. This is a great advantage compared to conventional ratched systems, since there the forces are transmitted punctually rather than flatly by the toothed pulleys. Special, very elaborately manufactured tooth backs, reduce the abrasion many times over, a hard anodizing ensures a long durability.
Tooth to tooth
The 1: 1 toothing plays a major role in the perfect ratio of pedal kickback and propulsion. This guarantees a direct power transmission via 45 defined locking points without detours from the freewheel into the hub body.
E-bike compatible
Although the hub does not weigh in at 170g, it is still fully suitable for e-bikes (pedelecs).
simplification
The filigree transition between the brake disc mount and the flange saves weight and generates more strength at the same time.
Non vacuum effect
A unique ventilation system prevents the creation of negative pressure due to temperature fluctuations in the hub. This means that no water is sucked through the ball bearings, which ensures a significantly longer service life and noticeably easy running of the bearings.
