Weighing just 329 grams, THM Carbones' Clavicula SE Powermeter is by far the lightest power meter crank on the market. It is based on the proven, ultra-light Clavicula SE crank arms with integrated carbon shaft. THM-Carbones is the only manufacturer to successfully use a carbon-carbon connection between crank arms and crankshaft. Thanks to an identical fibre structure of the external teeth of the shaft and the internal teeth of the crank arm, the relative movements between the teeth have been minimized. As a result, there is practically no wear and no possibility of noise development at this point. The spider for the chainring mount is also laminated to the crank arm from carbon. This results in extreme lateral stiffness for optimum shifting performance and outstanding stiffness in the circumferential direction for loss-free power transmission.
Thanks to the integration of strain gauges and a small electronic unit in the crankshaft, the additional weight of the power meter unit is just 27 grams. Similar to other established one-sided power measurement systems, the total power is calculated by measuring the power of the left leg. Since in practice the power deviations between the legs are negligible in all relevant power ranges (apart from exceptional anatomical features), unilateral power measurement systems are ideally suited for training control. In addition to power measurement, the power meter can measure cadence, torque effectiveness and pedal smoothness (left side). The values can be transmitted via ANT+ or Bluetooth LE to all devices compatible with these transmission protocols. The system is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. To be equipped for all weather conditions, the power meter is waterproof according to the IP67 standard.
