The adapted geometry of the chain links offers excellent shifting performance in every situation. Even mud and dirt, the sophisticated design offers little target. In combination with SIL-TEC, Shimano's surface coating, ultra-low friction is generated. When compared to simple coatings, SIL-TEC is a very special coating process. Thanks to the use of embedded fluorine particles, system performance is improved. The coating also reduces wear, driving noise and sliding friction, is dirt-repellent and abrasion-resistant, which significantly increases the durability of the components treated with SIL-Tec.
