The new 105 R7000 components are not only visually oriented towards their big siblings Dura Ace R9100 and Ultegra R8000, but also from a technical point of view some features of the top groups have been adopted. With a variety of translation options and the choice between rim and disc brakes, it is just as suitable for everyday drivers as for racing use.

The BR-R7000 brake works on the dual-pivot principle. The so-called two-link system is built by Shimano for a long time and now almost all road brakes work on this principle. The advantage of this system is the synchronized movement of the brake arms and thus a uniform pressure build-up on both sides of the rim flank. A stabilizer between the axle n reduces the deformation of the brake at high braking forces. This improves the braking efficiency and gives the driver better feedback during the braking process. With a spread between the thighs to 51 millimeters, the brake is suitable for 28-millimeter-wide rims and 28C tires.

The brakes are equipped with R55C4 brake shoes with aluminum alloy padding.
