MAXXIS Tire Shorty 27.5 x 2.40 WT 3C MaxxGrip TR DoubleDown
MAXXIS introduces a completely renewed version of the Shorty Mid-Spike tire, which is available as a trail, enduro or downhill specialist. The previous, wide lug in the middle of the profile was split. All center lugs are now double-rowed and grip roots and stones much better. The shoulder lugs have a reinforced lateral support to prevent them from buckling. The slotted profile ensures even better braking and cornering performance and, above all, the new contours of the treads offer optimized self-cleaning. This makes it ideal for wet or extremely deep, dusty conditions.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the profile layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and get a too square shape on wide rims and thus a less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for an internal rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an internal dimension between 30 and 40 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
tube tires have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube , the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer like a real UST tubeless tube . As a result, tube installation is successful for all rims with standard dimensions the first time you pump it up and with little liquid. "Normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense.
However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless assembly and guaranteed by MAXXIS. The tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been shown to attack the carcass and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months.
double down
Doubledown tires are constructed like downhill tires: two carcass layers reinforced with a butyl insert in the sidewall. However, thanks to two 120 TPI (instead of 60 TPI) carcass layers and an aramid bead, they are lighter than downhill tires, significantly more stable and robust than TR + EXO tires and therefore ideal for hard enduro courses.
3C MaxxGrip
The well-known 3C downhill compound, which many of the best downhillers have trusted for years, is now called 3C MaxxGrip. 3C MaxxGrip offers the ultimate grip and the best damping properties for incomparable traction on downhills thanks to three different rubber compounds. The base layer ensures low rolling resistance and stability of the tread lugs. The compound in the center of the tread provides the best grip on any surface, while the extremely dampened compound on the shoulder lugs provides the best possible cornering grip.
