MAXXIS tire Shorty 27.5 x 2.40 WT 3C MaxxGrip TR DoubleDown
MAXXIS presents a completely renewed version of the Shorty mid-spike tire, which is available as a trail, enduro or downhill specialist. The previous wide lug in the center of the tread has been split. All center lugs are now double-rowed and grip much better on roots and stones. The shoulder lugs have a reinforced lateral support to prevent them from buckling. The slotted tread pattern ensures even better braking and cornering performance and, above all, the new tread contours offer optimized self-cleaning. This makes it ideal for wet or extremely deep, dusty conditions.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and have too angular a shape on wide rims, resulting in less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 30 and 40 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealing milk than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions right from the first inflation and with little liquid. Like tires from other manufacturers, "normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant, as the carcass fabric is very tight.
However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months, depending on the amount used.
Double Down
Doubledown tires are constructed like downhill tires: two carcass plies reinforced with a butyl insert in the sidewall. However, thanks to two 120 TPI (instead of 60 TPI) carcass plies and aramid bead, they are lighter than downhill tires, significantly more stable and robust than TR + EXO tires and therefore ideal for tough enduro courses.
3C MaxxGrip
The well-known 3C downhill compound, which many of the best downhillers have trusted for years, is now called 3C MaxxGrip. With three different rubber compounds, 3C MaxxGrip offers the ultimate grip and the best damping properties for incomparable traction on downhills. The base layer ensures low rolling resistance and stability of the tread lugs. The compound in the tread center ensures the best grip on any surface, while the extremely cushioned compound on the shoulder lugs ensures the best possible cornering grip.
