MAXXIS tire Assegai 27.5 x 2.50 WT 3C MaxxTerra TR EXO+
The Assegai is the ultimate downhill tire, co-developed by former downhill world champion Greg Minnaar. He incorporated all of his many years of racing experience there. The basic idea behind it was to get the best out of already known Maxxis profiles.
The well-running studs from the Minion DHF and Minion DHR II were implemented in the middle of the tread. This provides excellent rolling on hard surfaces, but also grip on wet roots and stones. The HighRoller's slightly reshaped side knobs take care of fast corners. With these you have a clearly defined limit area and enough reserves at all times. Finally, the Shorty adds its tread height and ensures sufficient traction even on deep forest floors. With this intelligent mix you can really let it rip.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and on wide rims they end up with a shape that is too angular and therefore less than ideal in terms of performance.
WT tires are optimized for an internal rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an internal dimension between 30 and 40 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tires with tube tubes have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube , the risk of a breakdown is reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for assembly with sealant than other "Tubeless Ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, like a real UST tube . This means that the tube can be installed successfully on all rims with standard dimensions the first time the tube is inflated and with little liquid.
Even "normal" MAXXIS MTB tires can be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense.
However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless installation and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strictly advise against using sealing milk containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months.
EXO+ Protection
The improved EXO+ casing is based on a robust 60TPI casing, which is covered with abrasion-resistant rubber. In addition, the tire sidewalls have a reinforced and rubberized EXO puncture protection layer, while a short butyl insert is inserted above the tire bead. Tires with EXO+ Protection are designed for aggressive trail riding and enduro racing and are ideal for the higher torque and weight associated with e-MTBs.
3C MaxxTerra
3C MaxxTerra is the optimal three-layer rubber compound for our enduro and freeride tires. This mixture is characterized by ease of movement uphill and the best grip downhill, as well as a long service life.
