The Swedish brand Maurten offers a wide range of sports nutrition products. It was named after Mårten, a triathlete and friend of the family of company founder and entrepreneur Olof Sköld. In 2015, Maurten took up the challenge and developed the next generation of sports nutrition. Maurten's motto is: "Back to the essentials - no more and no less than what you really need."
The Maurten Drink Mix 160 uses hydrogel technology as its basis. As soon as it is mixed with water, a liquid sports drink with a high concentration of maltodextrin and fructose is created. This sports drink immediately turns into a pH-sensitive hydrogel when it comes into contact with stomach acid. The important ingredients are encapsulated by alginate and pectin and can therefore be transported more gently and quickly into the intestine, where water, salt and carbohydrates can be optimally absorbed. When running or cycling for 60 minutes or less, the recommended intake is up to 40g of carbohydrates at the start of physical exertion. A Mix Drink 160 is ideal for short training sessions. One sachet contains 40g of carbohydrates and 160 kcal when mixed with 500 ml of water.
Making progress doesn't mean starting from scratch - so the improved Drink Mix formula reflects Maurten's clear focus on performance and continuous development.
Thanks to the new Drink Mix formula, the tolerance of calcium in water is now significantly higher (up to 80mg/l). This means that the Drink Mix is now more reliable and predictable. It is also thinner, making it easier to consume at high training intensities.
The new formula now uses a small amount of sodium carbonate to protect your tooth enamel by maintaining a neutral pH.
