CYCLINGCERAMIC Oversized rear derailleur cage Aero Cage for Shimano Dura Ace 9250 / Ultegra 8150 | black
Founded in 2012 by French cyclist Héloise Proust, Cyclingceramic is committed to ensuring that every watt you put on the pedals is converted into propulsion. At their company headquarters in France, they manufacture high-quality ceramic ball bearings for a wide range of bike components by hand. The company relies on sourcing all components from European suppliers. In addition to individual ball bearings, the French also produce a large selection of oversized derailleur cages, derailleur pulleys and bottom brackets to help you improve your performance on the bike. Convinced of the high quality of their products, Cyclingceramic gives you a 4-year guarantee on their bearings.
With the Cyclingceramic Aero Cage you can not only reduce the friction losses of your rear derailleur due to the oversized pulleys, but also reduce the air resistance of your rear derailleur. No less than 4 years of development time and extensive wind tunnel tests were invested to bring this revolutionary rear derailleur cage to the market. While other oversized rear derailleur cages increase drag on the bike, the Cyclingceramic Aero Cage does the opposite. In the renowned wind tunnel at Silverstone, the experts at Aerocoach were able to measure lower drag in 3 different rear derailleur positions compared to the original Shimano rear derailleur cage.If the frictional resistance of the derailleur pulleys is taken into account, the overall resistance with the Aerocage is reduced by 25% compared to the uncovered Cyclingceramic Oversized Cage and by 60% compared to a standard Shimano cage. High-end ceramic derailleur pulleys with 14 and 19 teeth rotate under the innovative UD carbon fairing. In addition to the reduced riding resistance, the high rigidity of the cage ensures more precise and direct shifting.
Derailleur pulleys
With up to 800 revolutions per minute, it is obvious that frictional resistance can be saved on derailleur pulleys. The Cyclingceramic pulleys are milled in France from 7075 aluminium, then anodized and decorated with the brand logo. Until they were ready for the market, each pulley underwent extensive testing until the shifting performance and durability met Cyclingcermic's high quality expectations. One detail integrated into the testing process is the slightly beveled tooth profile of the lower derailleur pulley, which is intended to improve chain guidance. The Cyclingceramic pulleys were able to prove their efficiency on the renowned Friction Facts test bench, where they were among the fastest with a measured resistance of 0.33 watts.
Ceramic bearings
The ceramic balls used by Cyclingceramic are made from high-quality grade 3 silicon nitride. Compared to conventional steel balls, they are 58% lighter, 12% harder and 68% stiffer. In addition, the roundness is 75% higher. The outstanding properties of the ceramic balls not only reduce frictional resistance to a minimum, they also make the bearings more durable. At Cyclingceramic, each ball is precisely inserted by hand into the hardened steel raceways manufactured in Switzerland. The balls are held in place by lightweight, corrosion-resistant polyamide cages. The non-contact seals reduce frictional resistance and still protect the bearings against the ingress of dirt and moisture. During the production process, each bearing is checked several times to ensure that all components fit perfectly.
The bearing grease included in the scope of delivery is used for maintenance and has been specially adapted to these bearings. Lubricants from other manufacturers are not recommended.
NOTE: When traveling, please remember to remove the complete rear derailleur with an Allen key, as very few bicycle transport bags offer sufficient space for the oversized rear derailleur cage.
