The Urban Taraxagum from Continental is the first series-produced bicycle tire with dandelion rubber from Germany.
The tire combines a modern tread design with the latest technology and impresses with a coordinated race construction and comfortable cushioning - the perfect combination for everyday riding in the city. The Urban is therefore a good choice for fixies, singlespeeds and commuter bikes. The Taraxagum tire is decorated all around with stylized dandelion plants on the sidewall and proudly shows what it is made of.A black reflective strip blends in harmoniously and ensures lateral visibility as you roll through the city on the Urban.

The project is embedded in an overarching sustainability strategy that takes economic, ecological and social aspects into account. Significantly shorter distances between the regional cultivation areas and Continental's European tire plants mean that logistics and transport costs can be reduced and resources used more sustainably. These tires are among the highest quality products from Continental. They are manufactured in the Korbach plant and set special standards in terms of workmanship and quality.

Vectran Breaker
Vectran is a synthetically produced high-tech fiber with a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid crystalline polymer (LCP). Vectran is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectra and processed into a multi-fiber yarn. Both spider silk and Vectran have enormous tensile strength at very low weight. Higher puncture resistance and lower weight are the advantages of the Vectran breaker. Vectran is more cut-resistant than aramid, five times more tensile than steel and lighter than a nylon thread, without affecting rolling resistance. This makes it the ideal protective layer for tires. Vectran was developed for airbag systems in the automotive and aerospace industries.

NOTE: The tire is not suitable for tubeless use and not for use on hookless rims.
