Among the Zipp wheels, the 303 has always been known for its wide intended use of uses. With the 303 S, the area of intended use has now been significantly expanded. The profile height of 45 millimeters familiar from the 303 family has remained. With an outer width of 27 millimeters, the rims have a significantly larger inner width of 23 millimeters than the previous versions. As a result, the 303 S wheels are not only ideal for modern, wide road bike tires, but also ideally suited for gravel use. The large inner width results in a better shape of the tires, which reduces rolling resistance and makes the tires more stable at low air pressures and provides more driving comfort. The increased width was achieved through hookless tubeless profiles, which not only hold the tires securely in place, but also facilitate tubeless assembly thanks to their optimized design. In addition, the rims are less sensitive to punctures due to the elimination of the sensitive rim flanges.
The rims are aerodynamically optimized for use with 28 millimeter wide road bike tires. Unlike narrower rims, this tire width forms an almost seamless transition to the rims. So you can benefit from the higher comfort and better rolling behavior of wide road bike tires without having to compromise on aerodynamic efficiency. The rims are laced around the established Zipp 76 and 176 disc brake hubs with Center Lock brake disc mount.
NOTE: Due to the hookless profile, the Zipp 303 S wheels are only suitable with the use of ETRTO-compliant tubeless tires.
