YUNIPER ball bearing Nitro Plus ceramic | 6805 2RS | 25 x 37 x 7 mm
The durability of hubs, bottom brackets and other moving parts depends largely on the quality of the ball bearings used. If the manufacturer has cut corners here, the fun will soon fall by the wayside.
The Yuniper ball bearings definitely belong to the high-quality category. The ceramic balls made of silicon nitride have a higher hardness than steel balls, which is why they wear out less quickly than conventional steel ball bearings.
In addition, ceramic balls have a smoother surface than steel balls and have better roundness. This is the reason why ceramic ball bearings run more smoothly than steel ball bearings.
Nitro ball bearings are surface-treated with a black oxide finish for better rust resistance. The black coating, which is also used on weapons, seals the surface and prevents moisture and salts from directly causing oxidation (rust). To prevent dirt and water from penetrating the bearing, 2RS lip seals run on both sides of the bearing. In the Plus versions, these are extra smooth-running and resistant to chemicals. In addition, a water-displacing grease is used. Yuniper ball bearings are therefore ideally prepared for all areas of application.
