With the Open One+, Gerard Vroomen and his team of developers have combined the virtues of a lightweight, uncompromising cross-country frame with a bike for demanding trails and rough terrain . The special rear triangle of the Open One+ makes it fully compatible with modern plus-size wheels, while wheel sizes adapted to the frame size optimize the bike for the respective rider and intended use .
Hi-moduluscarbon from the aerospace industryis used to build the frame in order to meet the high demands placed on the product. It'snot about high or low-modulus carbon, it's about using carbon in the right place (TRCinTRS).
The revised rear triangle with thru axle as the connecting element between the wheel and frame not only guarantees more stiffness but also less weight . The choice fell on the X-12 BOOST Standard, which comes with a 12x148 mm thru-axle. With the BOOST standard, the chainring moves 3mm further outwards, so the rear triangle is 6mm wider than with conventional hubs with the same Q-factor, making the wheels stiffer without any ergonomic restrictions.
In addition, the chainstay on the OPEN ONE+ has been lowered, which provides a little more space for the drivetrain but also for the chainstay itself. It can now be made even larger and more stable.The leaf-spring shaped seat stays (wire stays) are responsible for the comfort and improved traction.
The 12 mm ThruThread dropouts for thru axles combine the thread for the thru axle with the attachment for the derailleur hanger. This gives you the stiffness advantage of a thru-axle without the additional weight of the mounts on the frame.
There are also innovations in the choice of bottom bracket. OPEN is switching from the familiar BBright standard to BB92. This step enables a variety of crank combinations for the frame and an improved weight/stiffness ratio in the bottom bracket area.
Opencycle frames are equipped for the future. Conversion to electric shifting with the current Shimano DI2 standard is possible at any time thanks to the well thought-out cable guides (optional).
