NONPLUS COMPONENTS rear hub Terraris J Gravel | 6-hole black 12x142 mm freehub SRAM XDR
Three decades of experience in the development and production of hubs have left their mark, albeit a "very light" one.
Over the years, Christian Jenny, Head of Development at NONPLUS COMPONENTS, has amassed an immense amount of specialist and practical knowledge, which led to the production of the company's first prototypes in 2016 after finding an investor. A short time later, in 2018, NON+ was registered as a trademark. Since then, the wheels have not stood still at one of the most innovative think tanks for bike components in Germany. New concepts are constantly being developed and patents applied for in order to set new standards in the future.
The NONPLUS for your gravel adventures.
The Terraris J rear hub is a masterpiece of engineering and is unique due to its weight in combination with its approval for almost every application in cycling. The black anodized oversized hub body forms the heart of the hub, around which everything revolves. Two load-appropriately dimensioned bearings support the hub shell on a 17 mm axle, two further bearings support the freewheel and the micro-gap end caps keep dirt and water away from the inside of the hub. A brake rotor mount, which extends directly to the spoke flange, ensures optimum transmission of the braking forces. On the opposite side, the patented freewheel mechanism is concealed inside. The unique tapered toothing has a contact surface that is approx. 400 % larger than that of conventional spur gears and therefore enables maximum power transmission with minimum wear. Together with the hard anodized surface, the special, very elaborately manufactured back of the tooth ensures low abrasion and thus additionally increases the service life. The 45-fold toothing results in a maximum free travel of 8°. This means you have immediate propulsion when you need it in difficult passages, for example, and don't lose valuable time when sprinting to the finish.
GEN2
Thanks to high-precision manufacturing and perfect quality control, the second generation hubs do not require the previously used bearing play adjuster. This means you always have a perfectly adjusted hub with smooth, easy running.
Precision and quality
The elimination of disruptive factors such as flex, vacuum effect, spoke tear-out and tolerances through the highest precision in material selection, manufacturing process and quality assurance. All this enables a guarantee period of 4 years.
NONPLUS tapered toothing
The unique freewheel mechanism of the NONPLUS hubs has approx. 400% more contact surface than conventional systems and enables maximum power transmission with minimum wear. This represents a major advantage over conventional ratchet systems, as the forces are transmitted by the toothed pulleys at certain points rather than over a large area. Special, very elaborately manufactured tooth backs reduce abrasion many times over, while a hard anodization ensures a long service life.
Tooth to Tooth
The 1:1 gearing plays a major role in achieving the perfect ratio of pedal kickback and propulsion. This guarantees direct power transmission via 45 defined engagement points without any detours from the freehub to the hub shell.
E-bike compatible
Although the hub weighs less than 170g, it is still fully compatible with e-bikes (pedelecs).
Simplification
The filigree transition between the brake disk mount and the flange saves weight and at the same time generates more strength.
Non Vacuum Effect
A unique venting system prevents the build-up of negative pressure due to temperature fluctuations in the hub. As a result, no water is sucked through the ball bearings, which ensures a significantly longer service life and noticeably smoother running of the bearings.
Special sealing
Micro-gap end caps improve the sealing of the individual hub components.
Note: The hub is a high-end product with a focus on minimum weight. The selected bearings are a small compromise for particularly smooth running and maximum speed. The special seal reduces friction, but requires a little more maintenance.
