MAXXIS REKON Race 29 x 2.40 WT DualCompound TR EXO Tanwall tire
This fast semi-slick tire is the latest XC tire from MAXXIS to win a World Cup. With a similar tread pattern to the Rekon all-round XC tire, but with smaller and lower lugs, the tire rolls even faster. The more pronounced L-shaped side lugs bite into the terrain and therefore provide the best grip in loose bends and sloping terrain. The Rekon Race performs best on the rear wheel together with a more strongly profiled tire on the front wheel. Or front and rear for short track races and light, fast race courses.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other tubeless ready tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This means that tubeless mounting is successful on all rims with standard dimensions right from the first inflation and with little liquid. Normal MAXXIS MTB tires can also be mounted tubeless with sealant, just like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very tight.
However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the casing and can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months, depending on the amount used.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and have an angular shape on wide rims, resulting in less than optimal performance.
DualCompound
Two different rubber compounds are processed into one tread strip. Maxxis plans the arrangement of the compounds according to the desired properties of the tires.
EXO Protection
This extremely cut- and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very densely woven, lightweight and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tires remains convincingly good.
