The name Kool-Stop has always been associated with excellent braking effect and low wear.
Thanks to these properties, the pads from Oregon/USA are among the top retrofit brake pads and can even increase the performance of your brakes.

The coverings are made from organic materials and bound with synthetic resin. In order to improve the braking properties and reduce abrasion, the pad contains small amounts of metal particles. Nevertheless, the coverings are mostly organic, you could also say they are semi-metallic. This mixture results in optimal dry and wet braking values and also keeps wear on the disc to a minimum.

To further reduce weight, aluminum support plates are used for type A coverings.
However, these have a higher thermal conductivity, which can lead to premature fading of the brakes under extreme stress, for example on long descents. These pads are therefore recommended for racing use.

NOTE: The brake pads are not suitable for SRAM RED eTap AXS Flat Mount and Level brakes with two-piece brake calipers (from model year 2020).
