Completely redesigned - the Hydra 2 hubs have been developed to withstand even the toughest conditions. Five years of further development and feedback from over 100,000 Hydra 1 hubs sold worldwide have gone into the Hydra 2.
Every Classic Mountain hub is manufactured from start to finish in Asheville, NC, at Industry Nine. From turning and milling the hub shell, axles and end caps, to wire EDMing A2 tool steel for the pawls and spider, to the in-house anodizing facility, every step of the design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly process is performed to the most exacting standards in the industry. Thanks to this complete production from a single source, consistent quality of the hubs is always guaranteed.
The Hydra 2 Classic MTB hubs have a 65% thicker axle and larger 6903 bearings for the best possible durability.New labyrinth seals are designed to keep dirt out better and minimize frictional resistance, and enlarged ratchet pockets have been installed for better force distribution to prevent deformation over many years. Despite all this, Industry Nine managed to minimize the weight of the Hydra 2 hubs compared to its predecessor. With the innovative freehub, the engagement angle is reduced from 0.52° to just 0.41°, which is achieved thanks to 30 additional teeth. This reduces the resistance of the freehub by 60 %, and you can disassemble and maintain your hubs without special tools, which makes them so unique. Last but not least, the hubs are also approved for use in your e-bike for motors up to 65 Nm.
