HOPE rear wheel 28" Gravel RX24 | Pro 5 Straightpull Center Lock | 12x142 mm | orange
Install, ride and forget about it. Hope components have always been synonymous with durability and robustness. The latest generation of their wheels is in no way inferior. With them, you can really let it rip on your gravel adventures and pack a little more when bikepacking.
The RX24 rims in particular contribute to their indestructibility. Made from high-quality 6069 aluminum, they can accommodate tires up to 60 mm wide with their large inner width of 24 mm. The welded ends ensure a perfect look and increased stability. In addition, the reinforced rim flange can withstand even heavy punctures without damage. The elegant-looking surface has been shot-peened and impact-resistant anodized. This means that flying stones cannot damage it and it appears as good as new even after many kilometers.
As is a matter of course these days, the RX24 can be converted for tubeless use. A set of rim tape and valve is already included in the scope of delivery.
The Pro 5 hubs from the English cult manufacturer from Barnoldswick are at the center. The experience gained from 30 years of designing and manufacturing high-quality drive elements has been incorporated into their development with the aim of improving proven technology in order to meet the demands of current and future bicycle technology.
The design of the rear hub differs significantly from its predecessor, with an enlarged body that generates more rigidity without increasing the weight. This is noticeable above all in a significantly more direct ride. At the same time, the diameter of the spoke flange has been increased, making it easier to build very stable wheels.
The highlight of the rear wheel hub is the new 6-pawl freehub system in offset design, which is characterized by the fact that three of the six pawls are always engaged when riding in order to distribute the load evenly. In addition, the freehub gearing has been increased from 44 (Pro 4) to 54 teeth, resulting in a total of 108 engagement points and a low free travel of just 3.33°. In addition, some material has been removed from the pawl springs, which slightly reduces the spring force and lowers their resistance. Hope has thus achieved the right balance between smooth running and durability with the Pro 5.
The hub can withstand negative external influences for a long time, thanks to the high-quality anodization and the very well-sealed stainless steel industrial bearings. Should the ravages of time take their toll on the hub, it can be dismantled and serviced with little effort. It can also be easily converted to a different hub standard.
Sapim Race spokes are used to connect the rim and hub. These classic round spokes have a butted center section and therefore have a higher damping capacity. They are also better able to absorb high load peaks. Overall, they enable very stiff and stable wheels for practically every area of use.
