The HyperGravel SL from Extralite is a gravel wheelset in a class of its own! Specifically designed for use on gravel, the 885g lightweight wheels offer impressive acceleration and are perfect for the steepest ramps in the route profile. The weight-optimized rims with a low profile are made of special high-performance fibres from Toray. The leading manufacturer of high-quality carbon fibers forms the basis for many exciting lightweights on the market. Extremely light Hi-Grade T1100 Fiber is used, which is characterized by its exceptional resilience and stability. In addition, each spoke hole is individually reinforced to withstand the high loads. The asymmetrical arrangement of the spoke holes achieves a more even spoke tension, which increases the reliability of the wheelset and minimizes maintenance. The wheelset is ideal for tubeless use in order to take full advantage of the improved puncture protection and rolling resistance properties of modern tubeless tires.
HyperSmart 3 Hubs
The ultra-light Extralite HyperSmart 3 hubs are an Italian masterpiece. The one-piece hub body is precisely manufactured from high-strength 7075TX aluminum using state-of-the-art CNC technology. 7075TX is a variant of the 7075 aluminum alloy, which is mainly used in the aerospace industry due to its particular hardness and resistance. The alloy offers a perfect combination of low weight and high strength, making it ideal for critical applications where high structural integrity is required. At the center of the hub, double-sealed stainless steel bearings rotate on a 17 millimeter thick aluminum axle. The axial play can be precisely fine-tuned via a micro-tuner to prevent unwanted movements and vibrations. Thanks to the straightpull design, the spokes are bolted directly into the hub instead of being guided through traditional storage holes. This ensures a considerable reduction in weight, increases the load capacity of the wheels and gives them a modern appearance. Propulsion is provided by a ratchet system. Instead of pawls that engage in a sprocket, the system consists of two toothed discs that slide over each other. When pedaling, the 36 teeth of the two discs engage with each other and transfer the power to the rear wheel.
BERD Textile Spokes
BERD textile spokes are the crowning glory of any wheelset. Made from special polyethylene, the textile spokes are lighter, stronger and more resistant than conventional metal spokes. Flexible enough to compensate for forces and stiff enough to react directly to powerful acceleration, the wheelset with BERD spokes offers balanced handling and exceptional riding comfort.
