The change from J-bend spokes to straight-pull spokes immediately catches the eye in the newly designed hub shell. In contrast to conventional hubs, where the spokes are bent at a 90-degree angle, the spokes on straight-pull hubs run straight. As the spokes are not bent, they are generally stiffer, which increases the stiffness of the entire wheel and improves power transmission. Straightpull hubs are also significantly lighter, as they require less material to offer the same stability. The hub shell creates space between the spokes and ensures that there is no more spoke creaking. To simplify wheel construction and maintenance, the same spoke length is used on both sides, drive and non-drive side.
