DT SWISS rear wheel PR 1400 DICUT Oxic 32 Clincher
The PR 1400 Oxic 32 wheel axle takes the top spot among DT Swiss aluminum wheels. With its 32 millimeter high rims, it offers outstanding stiffness, while its large inner rim width of 18 millimeters with tubeless-ready profile allows wide road tubeless tires to be used with low air pressures.
The wheelset gets its name from the special Oxic process, which gives the rim surface its ceramic coating. This makes the rim surface very hard and resistant. DT Swiss speaks of three times the hardness and abrasion resistance of aluminum. As a result, the ceramic coating generates excellent braking properties and at the same time reduces wear on the rim and Brake Pads. This layer is applied in an electrolyte bath by applying a voltage between the rim and the container, similar to the process used for anodizing. The decisive difference is the millions of plasma discharges, which cause the oxide to melt and solidify again through high temperatures and pressures. This makes the coating significantly more resistant than other ceramic coatings and also withstands high forces and deformations of the rim. In addition, the ceramic coating gives the rim its stylish matt black color, with no visible brake track. As the Oxic coating does not contain any paints or varnishes, the coating is 100% UV-resistant and there is no risk of the rim fading.
The hub impresses with its excellent seal. The DICUT flange geometry ensures a balanced wheel with high rigidity. The rear wheel is laced with 24 Straightpull knife spokes.
