Since the introduction of the first generation of DT Swiss hybrid wheels, e-bikes, their users and their range of applications have changed significantly. Not only has the average drive power increased significantly, but the average tour length has almost doubled thanks to more powerful batteries and a rapidly growing proportion of riders are regularly riding their e-MTBs on technically demanding single trails. Modern e-bikes and their components now even have to prove themselves in uncompromising e-enduro racing. With the current hybrid line, the Swiss company DT-Swiss has taken these developments into account and used its 27 years of experience to adapt the e-bike-specific wheel series to the increased loads.
The HXC 1501 series has been developed for riders looking for the ultimate in E-MTB performance. Equipped with carbon rims, adapted 240 hubs with Ratchet EXP oversized freehub system, they transfer the torque generated by the rider and motor reliably and almost loss-free to the ground.
DT Swiss 240 EXP OS hybrid hubs
The current 240 EXP hub generation has been specially adapted to cope with the higher loads in E-MTB use. The newly designed, enlarged hub body has improved durability and can better absorb the higher braking torques. Larger bearings distribute the forces more evenly and prevent premature wear.
Carbon rims
With their large inner width of 30 millimetres, the high-quality carbon rims offer very good support for wide tires at low air pressures. Their hookless design makes them even more resistant to punctures and allows a maximum system weight of 140 kg (rider, luggage and wheel). The rim profile has of course been designed for tubeless use. The matching tubeless tape and tubeless valve are already included in the scope of delivery.
DT Swiss Hybrid 2 spokes
The DT Swiss Hybrid 2 spokes have been specially developed for use on E-MTBs. The straight-pull spokes have been reinforced, especially at the spoke heads. With a 30% higher maximum tensile force compared to conventional MTB spokes, they can better absorb the higher braking torques and thus ensure lasting lateral and torsional stiffness of the wheels.
Pro Lock technology
In the Pro Lock process, a patented two-component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread and enables the construction of extremely durable wheels. As soon as the nipples are screwed in, the adhesive is activated and hardens completely at room temperature after approx. 6 - 7 hours. Multiple re-centering is still possible without any problems, although the adhesive strength decreases slightly with each re-centering.
