Since the presentation of the first generation of DT Swiss Hybrid wheels, e-bikes, their users and their range of uses have changed significantly. Not only the average drive forces have increased significantly, the average tour length has almost doubled thanks to more powerful batteries and a rapidly growing proportion of riders are regularly using the E-MTB on technically demanding single trails. Even in uncompromising e-enduro racing, modern e-bikes and their components now have to prove themselves. With the current hybrid line, the Swiss from DT-Swiss have taken these developments into account and, with their 27 years of experience, have adapted the e-bike-specific impeller series to the increased loads.
The HXC 1501 series has been developed for riders looking for the ultimate in E-MTB performance. Equipped with carbon rims, adapted 240 hubs with Ratchet EXP oversized freewheel system, they transfer the torque generated by the driver and motor reliably and almost loss-free to the ground.
DT Swiss 240 EXP OS Hybrid hubs
In order to be prepared for the higher loads in E-MTB use, the current 240 EXP hub generation has been specially adapted. The newly designed, enlarged hub body has improved durability and can better absorb the higher braking and driving torques. Cassette holders made of specially hardened steel ensure wear-free power transmission to the freewheel body. Larger bearings distribute the forces that occur more evenly and prevent premature wear. The newly developed DT-Swiss Ratchet EXP OS freewheel system has also been adapted to the higher loads. Compared to the standard EXP freewheel, it has a larger threaded ring to reduce peak loads. The toothed discs made of specially hardened steel are pressed together by just one spring, which ensures even faster and more reliable engagement. The extensive and even power distribution allows the use of a 30-fold toothing per wheel revolution without having to compromise on durability.
carbon rims
The high-quality carbon rims with their large inner width of 30 millimeter wide tires offer very good support at low air pressures. Its hookless design makes it even more resistant to punctures and allows a maximum system weight of 140 kg (rider, luggage and bike). The rim profile has of course been designed for tubeless use. The matching tubeless tape and tubeless valve are already included in the scope of delivery.
DT Swiss Hybrid 2 spokes
The DT-Swiss Hybrid 2 spokes were specially developed for use on E-MTBs. The straightpull spokes have been reinforced, especially on the spoke heads. With a maximum tensile force that is 30% higher than that of conventional MTB spokes, they can better absorb the higher drive and braking torques and thus ensure permanent lateral and torsional rigidity of the wheels.
Pro Lock technology
In the Pro Lock process, a patented two-component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread and enables the construction of extremely durable wheels. As soon as the nipples are screwed in, the adhesive is activated and fully hardens at room temperature after approx. 6 - 7 hours. Repeated re-centering is still possible without any problems, although the adhesive strength decreases slightly with each re-centering.
