CYCLUS TOOLS Chain link counter
If a worn chain is to be replaced with a new one, the number of chain links must be determined. Simply measuring the chain length is not enough. As a worn bicycle chain has elongated, the measurement result will lead to an
to an inaccurate number of chain links.
Instructions:
1. attach the chain link counter to the chain, set the counter to zero
2. Mark any chain link with a visible dot
3. run the chain through the chain link counter once from the mark
4. read off the number of chain links
5. Count new chain with chain cutter and cut chain to length (the new chain is shorter than the worn chain)
Note: Heavily soiled chain rollers can impair the function of the chain link counter. Clean the tool with bicycle cleaner and a brush.
