SRAM RED XPLR AXS Wide Disc HRD Flat Mount Gravel groupset 1x13 | Powermeter crank
With the new Red XPLR groupset, SRAM is not just adding one gear. In addition to the upgrade to 13 gears and an increased range, the Red XPLR groupset with full-mount rear derailleur has become significantly more robust in order to meet the demands of tougher gravel routes. Chain management has also been significantly improved. The UDH standard and the elimination of adjustment screws makes assembly and perfect adjustment easier than ever. The Red AXS HRD shift-brake system with its outstanding ergonomics gives you full control and more than sufficient braking power in all hand positions. In addition, the weight of the complete groupset has been reduced by more than 150 grams. As usual, personalization and firmware updates can be carried out conveniently via the SRAM AXS app.
AXS Powermeter crank
With the RED XPLR AXS Powermeter crankset, you get a reliable and precise power meter to get the most out of your training. Thanks to the new spider design and an optimized layer construction of the hollow carbon crank arms, the weight remains pleasantly low at 512 grams including chainring. The proven SRAM X-Sync tooth profile with alternating thick and thin teeth (narrow-wide) ensures a secure fit of the chain on the chainring. The chainring is attached using the SRAM thread mount standard, which contributes to the tidy appearance of the crank. The crankshaft was developed for the DUB Road bottom bracket standard for a wide range of crank applications. The crankshaft is compatible with all common bottom bracket housings via the corresponding DUB bottom bracket. For easy monitoring and firmware updates, you can configure the power meter conveniently via the SRAM AXS app.
Powermeter features:
- the thread-mount chainring is lightweight and available with 38 to 46 teeth
- 10K Active Temperature Compensation
- wireless data transmission via Bluetooth Low Energy or ANT+
- MagicZero automatically checks and calibrates your power meter while riding
- Cadence measurement via acceleration sensors (no additional magnet required!)
- Waterproof construction according to IPX7 standard
- LED power indicator always informs you about the battery level
- 200 hours operating time (tool-free battery change according to CR2032 standard)
- Power Balance measures the power of the left and right leg independently
- +/- 1.5% measuring accuracy
AXS HRD shift-brake system
With the new AXS HRD shift-brake system, SRAM has made the biggest leap in development among the new Red components. Both the shape of the hoods and the carbon brake lever have been redesigned. In addition to improved ergonomics for a wider range of hand sizes, the redesigned brake levers offer significantly better power transmission from all handlebar positions. Thanks in part to a modified pivot point and the relocation of the primary piston to the shifter body, the brakes can be applied with just one finger both in the lower handlebars and in the hoods. Another highlight is the additional shift button integrated into the hoods, which can also be used to operate ANT+-compatible bike computers. The textured main shift paddles work according to the proven eTap shift logic. One rocker switch for upshifting and one rocker switch for downshifting. If both paddles are operated simultaneously, the front derailleur is shifted. The shifting behaviour can be personalized via the SRAM AXS app and additional SRAM Wireless Blip Shifters can also be integrated. The lever width can of course be adjusted using an easy-to-reach hexagon socket screw. Independently of this, the pressure point on the lever can also be adjusted to prevent contact between the lever and handlebars.
The brake callipers, which have also been redesigned, are not only stiffer but also significantly lighter. The pad gap has been widened for easy installation and friction-free operation. Bleeding Edge technology ensures simple and clean bleeding.
Thanks to the slim design, SRAM was able to save an impressive 83 grams of weight on the Red HRD shift-brake system compared to the previous version.
AXS 13-speed rear derailleur | 46T
The loads on gravel bike rear derailleurs are significantly higher than on their road bike counterparts. Not only impacts from the ground, but also flying stones and sticks can easily damage the rear derailleur. For this reason, SRAM has incorporated some technologies from the proven Transmission mountain bike rear derailleurs in the development of the new Red XPLR rear derailleur. Thanks to the full-mount design for mounting on frames with UDH derailleur hanger, the rear derailleur is significantly more robust and resistant than the previous version. The rear derailleur can independently avoid hard impacts by briefly decoupling. Should a component be damaged, numerous components can be replaced. The rear derailleur has been specially designed and optimized for use with the Red XPLR 10-46 tooth cassette, making it easier than ever to set up the rear derailleur without the need for adjustment screws. With the spring clutch inspired by mountain bikes, the chain sits securely on the chainring even under the toughest vibrations. Another highlight is the lower Magic Wheel derailleur pulley, adopted from the Transmission rear derailleurs. It keeps the chain moving even if a stick blocks the roller.
13-speed cassette
Gravel bikes place special demands on the gear ratio. On the one hand you need small gears for the steepest ramps and long climbs, on the other hand you need a fine gradation in order to have the optimum cadence on long flat sections or in the sprint finish. To master this balancing act, SRAM has upgraded the new Red XPLR cassette to 13-speed. With 46 teeth, the largest sprocket has also been increased by 2 teeth, thus extending the range. Similar to the Transmission mountain bike cassettes, the largest sprocket has an offset to the spokes. Thanks to this design, the XPLR 13-speed cassette is compatible with a conventional SRAM XDR freehub body and with all SRAM 12-speed flattop chains. Thanks to the optimized shifting characteristics on each sprocket, you can enjoy the best shifting quality even on the most demanding routes. With a weight of just 289 grams, the cassette is also significantly lighter than the 12-speed XPLR cassette. The low weight was achieved through a revised X-Dome construction. The first 10 sprockets are milled from a block of hardened steel. The final sprocket is made of aluminum and also acts as a spider for the 32- and 38-tooth sprockets, which are also made of aluminum and riveted on.
Chain
For the new Red groupset, SRAM has put the proven Red Flattop chain on a diet. Thanks to the hollow-pin design and cut-outs in the inner and outer plates, a weight saving of 13 grams has been achieved. The long service life and smooth running of the Red chain have remained the same. In addition to the flattop design, a chrome coating on the inside of the plates and the rollers ensures this.
160 mm Paceline X brake rotors
The Paceline X brake rotor combines the proven, smooth-running friction ring of the Paceline brake rotor with the lightest aluminum spider that SRAM has ever produced. Optimized for road use, the design with its ventilation holes offers smooth, low-vibration braking performance. The rounded edges on the top of the disc minimize the risk of injury and comply with the guidelines of the UCI. A further advantage is that they make it easier to install the wheel, as the rounded top prevents jamming in the brake calliper.
Charger/batteries
The integrated battery on the rear derailleur has a range of over 1000 kilometers. The charge status can be read at any time via an LED light and the batteries are recharged within an hour using the charger supplied.
