Hub dynamo or thru axle?
So far, the demanding biker had to do without one of the two. This thru-hub dynamo in the Boost standard for 110mm clamping width has two equal-sized, symmetrical flanges. This makes the wheel construction easier and the impeller stiffer and more stable. The thru axle stiffens the suspension fork and allows more precise hub positioning, which is particularly useful for disc brakes. More and more mountain bikers want to take advantage of a hub dynamo lighting system. No wonder that SON was asked more and more often for a thru-axle hub dynamo.
In order to reconcile both, not only the axle construction but also essential parts of the generator had to be changed. Result: A hub dynamo, which is similar in appearance, in its robustness and in the electrical values of the SON 28 disc, just with a thick "hole".
