ROTOR Power Meter INSpider MTB for Rotor Direct Mount cranks | LK 100 mm
Based on the INSpider power meter with bolt circle diameter of 110 millimeters, the Spaniards from Rotor are launching a further developed version specifically for MTB use. With a bolt circle diameter of 100 millimeters, the INSpider MTB is compatible with the in-house round and oval chainrings with 30 to 36 teeth. Their Universal Tooth technology enables the use of chainrings and spiders with both Shimano 1x12 drives and SRAM 1x12 Eagle drives. But not only the bolt circle diameter on the INSpider MTB is new. The CNC-milled housing made of 7075-T6 aluminum has been completely redesigned and packs the power meter unit even more discreetly than in the previous version. The slimmer design of the INSpider MTB not only reduces the chance of stone chips, the weight has been reduced by 32% compared to the previous version. At 105 grams, the INSpider MTB is one of the lightest spider measurement systems on the market. Mounted on Rotor Kapic aluminum or Kapic carbon cranks , the INSpider MTB forms a visually perfect unit that upgrades every bike.
Technically, the INSpider lies between Rotor's 2INpower and INpower power measurement systems. While the INpower only measures the power in one crank arm, the INSpider determines the power of both legs using 4 opposing strain gauges. This enables an exact performance analysis of the pedaling and the possibility to make improvement potential visible. However, the separate analysis of both legs, as is possible with the separate measurement of the 2INpower on both sides, is not possible. The system independently compensates for measurement deviations caused by temperature fluctuations between -20°C and 50°C. However, the INSpider should be calibrated manually via a compatible ANT+/Bluetooth bike computer or the Rotor software after mounting or changing the chainrings and at least once a month. Thanks to a completely encapsulated measurement technology, the power meter is insensitive to environmental influences and completely waterproof thanks to a magnetic charging connection. The permanently integrated rechargeable battery ensures an operating time of up to 350 hours.
Another highlight of the system is the TORQUE 360 evaluation option. Rotor's in-house software can be used to analyze the torque curve during a pedal revolution. This measurement technique is particularly valuable for riders who use Rotor's oval Q-ring chainrings. The software can use the OCA (optimized-chainring-angle) system to determine the optimal position of the Q-Rings. So you can put your power even more effectively on the pedal.
