Q36.5 is an Italian brand for high-end cycling clothing, founded by Luigi Bergamo in the Dolomites. Feel like a pro from the Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, slip into the Unique Pro 4.0 road cycling shoes and experience unprecedented performance. The basis of the shoe design is its unique, handmade last. This was adapted to the natural contours of the foot and guarantees perfect power transmission while minimizing signs of fatigue. In addition, the metatarsal zone and the toe area have been designed very generously and are suitable for a wide range of foot widths.
Many holes and the mesh fabric on the upper almost ensure stormy ventilation. The absence of the classic tongue also enhances this effect and guarantees perfect thermoregulation. The carbon outsole has been raised in the heel area to ensure a secure footing in the shoe and the area has been significantly reinforced. This means you always feel secure when kicking off hard or running.
The closure system is of course also state of the art. Thanks to two BOA®-Li2 dials, the shoe is securely fastened and is very easy to put on and take off, even when wearing gloves. Furthermore, minor adjustments can be made at any time, even while riding.
Low stack height
The outsole is also an absolute highlight. Its carbon layup is not only patented, but also only 2.2 mm thick. This means that the entire shoe stack is 4.4 mm, making it the lowest on the road shoe market. What is the advantage of this? According to studies, a reduction of 1 mm can increase your performance by 1 %, whether due to improved aerodynamics or optimized rotational movements. This gives the Unique Pro a performance advantage of at least 4 % compared to conventional shoes.
Of course, the soles immediately convert every kick into propulsion, but thanks to their zone-based design, they also have enough flexibility to follow the natural movements of the foot. In combination with the Solestar footbed, your feet will enjoy a high level of comfort and almost forget the exertions of the competition.
4-hole pedal plate mount
With the Unique Pro 4.0, you are equipped for the future. Conventional 3-hole pedal plates, such as those for the Shimano SPD SL or the Look Keo system, can be mounted on it. It is also possible to attach SRM X-Power Direct Cleats. Together with the flat pedal, these require the two central screw threads for a measurable increase in efficiency.
Q36.5 developed the X-Power Direct pedal in cooperation with SRM. Specially designed for the Unique Pro 4.0 shoes, this combination provides you with the most direct and efficient pedal system currently available on the market.
The extension of the pedal body is clearly recognizable. This has allowed the mechanical unit and its point of contact with the cleat to be placed significantly behind the contact surface of the shoe and pedal. As a result, the distance between the sole and axle has been reduced by 6 mm. Together with the X-Power Direct Cleats, the entire stack is reduced to approx. 9.7 mm. This makes the system one of the lowest on the market. What is the advantage of this? According to studies, a reduction of 1 mm can increase your performance by 1 %, whether due to improved aerodynamics or optimized rotational movements. Another positive effect is for users of shorter cranks. They can lower the saddle slightly and lower their center of gravity, which leads to a more direct ride feel and better bike control.
The very large contact area of 1653 mm² also provides a significant increase in stability and ensures powerful power transmission.
In terms of workmanship, the pedals are of the highest standard. Perfectly milled, smooth-running and very well sealed bearings as well as an elegant anodized finish promise years of trouble-free operation.
The scope of delivery includes a pair of pedal plates with a freedom of movement at the heel of 1.2°. Other versions can be purchased as an option.
