The ultra-light Extralite HyperSmart 3+ is an Italian masterpiece. The one-piece hub body is precisely manufactured from high-strength 7075TX aluminum using state-of-the-art CNC technology. 7075TX is a variant of the 7075 aluminum alloy, which is mainly used in the aerospace industry due to its particular hardness and resistance. The alloy offers a perfect combination of low weight and high strength, making it ideal for critical applications where high structural integrity is required. At the center of the hub, double-sealed stainless steel bearings rotate on a 17 millimeter thick aluminum axle. The axial play can be precisely fine-tuned via a micro-tuner to prevent unwanted movements and vibrations.
The plus in the name stands for the revised spoke holder in straight-pull design. 3D angled holes with seamless, smoothly rounded transitions enable a direct fit for various spoke types, including Berd and carbon spokes as well as conventional steel and stainless steel spokes. Optimized spoke curvature, improved tension distribution and perfect alignment of the spokes to the rim ensure maximum efficiency and stability. A toothed disk system ensures propulsion. Instead of pawls that engage in a sprocket, the system consists of two toothed discs that slide over each other. When pedaling, the 48 teeth of the two discs engage with each other and transfer the power to the rear wheel.

Weighing in at 149 grams, the Extralite HyperSmart 3+ is one of the lightest rear hubs money can currently buy. Elaborate computer simulations, countless prototypes and a long test phase under the toughest conditions guarantee its exceptional durability.
