With a weight of 148 grams, the HyperBoost3 R is one of the lightest hubs that money can buy at the moment. Elaborate computer simulations, countless prototypes and a long test phase under the toughest conditions guarantee you a long service life.
In the current version, the Italians have turned the weight screw again and defined the new standard for hubs with 148g. Despite its low weight, the hub is approved for good driving style up to enduro use. The freewheel mechanism has also been optimized. The toothed washer in the hub body has lost 20% of its weight and sits in a newly developed toothing. In addition to an improved engagement speed when starting, this also reduces the resistance when rolling. The service life and wear and tear have also been optimized by these changes compared to the predecessor. Those who prefer the harder pace can install a larger 6903 2RS bearing on the disc side. The weight of the hub then increases by 8 grams, but the hub becomes significantly more durable and more resilient.
As usual from Extralite, the hub is perfectly processed. Minimal tolerances and high-quality materials leave no doubt as to the quality and stability of this work of art. The black hard anodized hub body rotates on two 6803 2RS deep groove ball bearings around the multi-butted axle . An O-ring on each side provides additional protection against water and dirt. To ensure a long service life for your bearings, you can use the Micro-Turner to adjust the bearing play perfectly at any time.
In addition to the organic oversized shape, the modern hub concept also includes the spoke flanges, which are intended for straight-pull spokes. Due to the straight spokes there is a more straightforward flow of force and, due to the elimination of the curved spoke head, there is one less potential weak point in the wheel.
