The rim is the result of a long development process. In cooperation with professional teams and gravity athletes, many test cycles were run through in order to bring the best product to the market. And the new M9 Pro is really something to be proud of.
ENVE is also breaking new ground with it. Different constructions on the front and rear wheels ensure specific characteristics and bring your full potential to the track.
At the front, special attention has been paid to comfort and damping. A new rim shape and an improved carbon laminate increase compliance by 77 % compared to the previous model. This allows the rim to adapt better to the ground, absorb shocks and thus ensure a much smoother ride. This significantly prevents the rider from tiring prematurely and increases their safety.
The large inner width of 29 mm also supports the comfort aspect, allowing the use of very wide tires, which can also absorb bumps better and also generate more grip.
One highlight is the patented "Protective Rim Strip" rim protection strip. Consisting of a plastic polymer, it is placed between the rim and tire, where it fulfils two important functions. Together with the already extremely strong, hookless rim flange, it prevents damage to the rim in the event of heavy punctures. At the same time, it also acts as a buffer to protect the tire. The "Protective Rim Strip" also ensures optimum tubeless compatibility. Its completely closed shape, adapted to the rim profile, provides a perfect seal and guarantees that no air escapes. Even in the almost impossible event that the rim breaks, the insulated system maintains full riding stability. A feature that downhill racers have been longing for.
The spoke holes are specially designed for the nipples supplied. This guarantees even tension and a very solid wheel. The Nyloc insert prevents the spokes from loosening on their own and significantly extends the correct concentricity.
ENVE carbon rims are developed by ENVE in the USA and manufactured to the highest quality standards at the company's headquarters in Utah. ENVE's engineers have years of experience with the use of carbon in the field of cycling and know what requirements a top product such as these rims must meet. At ENVE, every effort is made to utilize the advantages of carbon and eliminate its disadvantages. Stiff and extremely light rims have been developed in which all fibers can run without interruption, which corresponds to the best possible utilization of the material thicknesses. This principle was perfected for the spoke holes, with continuous fiber strands forming the receptacle for the spoke nipples. Aluminum inserts, which are quite common in other carbon rims, can therefore be dispensed with during production. This reduces the weight and at the same time allows significantly higher spoke tensions, which in turn allow the construction of stiffer wheels.
