DT SWISS Thru Axle RW RWS Thru Axle 12x142 mm
The innovative impeller mounting system from DT Swiss! Instead of the eccentric clamping principle developed for road bikes more than 80 years ago, the clamping force of the RWS is built up by tightening a screw connection with a lever.
Operation is very simple: tighten the tensioner by turning the lever clockwise as tight as possible by hand (at least 15 Nm). Depending on the frame construction, this can also be done by repositioning the lever several times. Then lift the lever and turn it to the desired position - the impeller is securely and firmly mounted.
Because there are no plastic parts in the force flow of the RWS, the clamping force is independent of temperature and therefore the RWS is 100% disc brake compatible! The direct transfer of leverage to the thread allows the RWS to achieve up to 50% more clamping force than conventional quick-releases. This is not only safer, but also increases the stiffness, which is particularly noticeable in disc brakes.
