CYCLUS TOOLS chain wear tester with scale
The CYCLUS TOOLS chain wear tester allows you to quickly and reliably determine the optimum time to replace a chain. If a worn chain is not replaced in good time, this can lead to poor shifting performance. In addition, sprockets and chainrings can wear prematurely and also need to be replaced. The chain wear tester uses two sensors to measure the chain rollers on the inner plates on the same side. This means that the result is independent of the size of the rollers and the roller play. It can be used for all ½ inch chains, including SRAM AXS. A third probe tensions the chain using a spring so that the measurement is not affected by the force of the user when inserting the probes. The degree of wear is then displayed on a simple scale. If the display shows "Stop", this means that the chain is 1% elongated.
Most bicycle chain manufacturers recommend changing the chain when it has reached the following elongation: 0.5% (11-13 gears), 0.75% (9-10 gears), 1% (all other chains)
Operation:
The bicycle chain to be measured must be clean so that the measurement result is not influenced. Tension the chain tester with two fingers so that the spring is fully tensioned. Now insert the two measuring fingers into the inner plates of the bicycle chain. The tensioning finger is also inserted into an inner plate. Now slowly release the tensioning finger. The display shows the exact elongation of the chain.
Features:
- quick and easy measurement
- Easy to read measured value
- no hand contact with the chain, hands remain clean
- Measurement result independent of roller size and roller play
