The trend towards wider tires and rims in the gravel sector continues unabated. The Dutch company 9th Wave is taking this development to the extreme with the ultra-wide Sandstone rim. As the name suggests, the 52 millimeter high rim with its gigantic inner width of 37 millimeters was developed for the beach races popular in the Netherlands. However, its aerodynamic advantages and the excellent integration of gravel and mountain bike tires from 40 to 62 millimeters wide make the Sandstone rim an excellent choice for fast gravel setups as well. The large inner width allows you to run significantly lower air pressures without the tire becoming unstable in fast corners. This not only provides more comfort and grip in rough gravel sections, it also reduces rolling resistance. Thanks to the wide hookless rim flanks, the rim is also forgiving of slight punctures. Despite the high rim profile, the weight remains pleasingly low at 430 grams. The offset of the spoke holes of 3 millimetres ensures a robust wheel construction with even spoke tension.
