The 858 NSW wheels are the ultimate aero weapon from Zipp. Thanks to their rim height of 82 to 85 millimetres, they have a large sail area and help you achieve new best performances wherever speed is important. The handling, on the other hand, is more reminiscent of wheels with a 20 millimeter lower rim height. Thanks to their wave-shaped, patented Sawtooth design, they are extremely stable in crosswinds. In addition, the weight has been reduced by 243 grams (per wheelset) compared to the previous version, which allows the 858 NSW to accelerate light-footedly and also makes them interesting for undulating road races and as all-round road bike wheels. Thanks to the Zipp Carbon Internal Reinforcement technology (CiR), the rims have been made 10% lighter and are just as stable as the previous version. The increased inner rim width of 23 millimetres in conjunction with the hookless profile integrates 28 millimetre wide tires perfectly aerodynamically and you can benefit from the better rolling resistance properties and greater comfort of wider road bike tires.
Total System Efficiency (TSE)
The 858 NSW wheels were developed under the TSE approach. The development goal was to find the best possible wheel design to overcome the speed barriers that exist under realistic riding conditions. These include wind resistance, gravity and rolling resistance as well as vibration losses in poor road conditions.
Zipp ZR1 SL hubs
The further development of Zipp's proven ZR1 hub has an optimized, lighter hub shell and an improved bearing system with ultra-smooth running ceramic bearings. Thanks to the ZR1 SL hubs, the 858 NSW wheels are now 30 grams lighter. The pawl freehub with 66 engagement points ensures immediate response. Six offset pawls are organized in two groups of three pawls each, with three pawls always engaging simultaneously. This ensures that your pedaling power is transferred to the wheel particularly efficiently.
Sawtooth design
The aerodynamically extremely efficient sawtooth profile, which is based on the fin ends of the humpback whale, varies between a rim height of 82 to 85 millimetres. In combination with the newly designed hexagonal ABLC dimples (indentations on the outer sides of the rim), the design ensures very high crosswind stability, especially at larger angles of attack.
ImPress graphics
Zipp lettering is printed directly onto the rim using ImPress graphics technology. This allows the recessed structures on the rims to develop their full effect.
Zipp Lifetime Warranty
Zipp grants you a lifetime warranty on your Zipp wheel when used properly. The warranty also covers racing use and damage caused by riding errors as long as the wheel has been used for its intended purpose. The warranty is only valid for the original purchaser and proof of purchase is mandatory!
NOTE: Due to the hookless profile, the Zipp 858 NSW wheels are only suitable for use with ETRTO-compliant tubeless tires.
